Toolbar Controls - Nextedy Documentation

The toolbar sits along the top of the Scheduler board. The controls are icon-only: hover a control and the tooltip shows the label used in the table below. The Help link sits on its own at the right-hand end of the toolbar.

The controls, left to right

Nine icon-only Scheduler toolbar buttons separated into three groups by vertical dividers: magnifier-plus and magnifier-minus and a calendar with an up arrow; a minus-in-a-box and a plus-in-a-box; then a person-with-a-gauge and a two-pane icon both shown pressed, a circular refresh arrow, and a grid-with-arrows dependency icon — The toolbar in reading order: zoom in, zoom out, scroll to today · collapse rows, expand rows · toggle resource load, show unscheduled items in sidebar, refresh data, show dependencies.

Control	Effect
Zoom in the timeline	Widens the day columns by one step, so fewer days fit on screen and each bar is easier to read. Column width is remembered for the next visit
Zoom out the timeline	Narrows the day columns by the same step, fitting more days on screen. It stops once the narrowest column width is reached
Scroll to today	Scrolls the timeline horizontally until the current-date line is in view. It does not change the timeline window
Collapse rows	Folds every swimlane down to its summary row, leaving the per-day load markers as the only content
Expand rows	Unfolds every swimlane again, showing the task bars underneath each summary row
Toggle Resource Load visualization	Switches between the two board layouts. On (the state you land in) is the timeline view with expandable swimlanes and per-day load markers; off is a flat view with one row per resource and no load markers
Show unscheduled items in sidebar	Shows or hides the Unplanned sidebar. It is on every time the board opens — hiding it is not remembered for the next visit
Refresh data	Re-reads the work items from Polarion and redraws the board in place, without reloading the page. Use it after someone else has changed dates or effort
Show Dependencies	Draws the dependency arrows over the board, from each predecessor to the task that depends on it. Only present when the widget has at least one entry in Dependency Roles
Help	Opens the Scheduler support page in a new browser tab

Show Dependencies appears only when the board is configured with a dependency link role. On a board with no role in Dependency Roles, that control — and the Add Link handle on the cards — is simply absent. See Link Task Dependencies.

Turning the dependency arrows off again

While the arrows are drawn, a helper item labelled Click here to hide dependencies appears in the toolbar next to Show Dependencies. Clicking it clears the overlay. Any action that redraws the timeline also clears the arrows — zooming, Scroll to today, Collapse rows, Expand rows, Toggle Resource Load visualization, Show unscheduled items in sidebar and Refresh data all remove the overlay. Click Show Dependencies again to draw it back. Arrows are drawn only between two tasks that are both scheduled and both inside the visible timeline window. A dependency whose other end sits in the Unplanned sidebar, or outside the window, has nothing to draw between.

There is no Save control

The toolbar has no Save button, and it does not need one: every change is written back to Polarion the moment you finish the gesture. That covers all of the board’s editing actions:

dragging a bar to new dates,
dropping an item from the Unplanned sidebar onto a swimlane,
unplanning an item with the Unplan item handle,
creating a work item on the timeline,
adding or removing a dependency with the Add Link handle.

Because there is no Save step, there is also no Cancel step. An accidental drag is a real change to the work item’s dates — correct it by dragging the bar back, or by editing the mapped date fields on the work item itself.

Which controls are inactive in the flat view

Turning Toggle Resource Load visualization off puts the board into the flat view: one row per resource, no expandable swimlane sections and no per-day load markers. In that layout, two controls are greyed out because they have nothing to act on:

Collapse rows	The flat view has no expandable swimlane sections to fold
Expand rows	Nothing is folded, so there is nothing to unfold

Everything else — zoom, Scroll to today, the sidebar toggle, Refresh data, Show Dependencies and Help — works the same in both layouts. Turn the resource-load visualization back on to get the swimlanes, the load markers and those two controls back.

The board remembers which of the two layouts you were last in, along with your column width, and restores them the next time you open the page.
