The Five Role Dashboards

The Aerospace Safety Solution provides five dashboards tailored to distinct engineering roles. Each aggregates metrics and navigation links specific to that role’s responsibilities.
DashboardPrimary Focus
🛡️ Safety EngineerFailure conditions, RPN distribution, safety risksheets
Design EngineerDesign requirements, characteristics, DFMEA assignments
V&V EngineerTest execution status, verification coverage, traceability gaps
Configuration ManagerDocument versions, baseline status, change request progress
Program ManagerCross-standard readiness, gate KPIs, approval status

Step 1 — Open Your Role Dashboard

From the Home page, locate the Quick Links section in the right sidebar. Under Role Dashboards, select your role:
  • Safety Engineer
  • Design Engineer
  • V&V Engineer
  • Config Manager
  • Program Manager
Alternatively, use the sidebar favorites bar and navigate to Home, then scroll to the Role Dashboards section. The same seven links appear there (the five role dashboards, plus V-Model Process Guide and Certification Readiness).

Step 2 — Read the Metrics Bar

Every role dashboard opens with a Key Metrics bar showing work item counts relevant to that role. These are live counts pulled from Polarion at page load. diagram Safety Engineer metrics to check first:
  • Failure conditions by classification (Catastrophic / Hazardous / Major / Minor)
  • RPN distribution: High (>30) · Medium (11–30) · Low (≤10)
  • Risk controls pending implementation
V&V Engineer metrics to check first:
  • Test cases by status (pass / fail / not-run)
  • Verification coverage per requirement level
  • Test-requirement traceability gaps
Program Manager metrics to check first:
  • Overall readiness percentage
  • Requirement decomposition completeness
  • Document approval status

Step 3 — Navigate to Analysis Documents

Each dashboard includes direct links to the risksheets and PowerSheets that role uses most. Click any linked document name in the Analysis section to open it directly.
The Safety Engineer dashboard links directly to all safety risksheets: FHA, SFMEA documents per subsystem, SSA, PSSA, FTA, and CCA. You do not need to navigate through the Risks space manually.
Every dashboard shares a consistent Quick Links sidebar organized into five categories:
CategoryContents
DashboardsStandards Compliance, Safety Assessment, Requirements, Design, Testing, Risks
Role DashboardsAll five role dashboards + V-Model Process Guide + Certification Readiness
PowerSheetsWhole RTM, ARP 4754A, Design Verification, Component RTM, User Need Validation
Reports12 reports including FMEA Summary, Compliance Matrix, Risk Control Effectiveness, V&V Summary
SupportLink to Nextedy support
Use Role Dashboards to switch between roles — for example, a Safety Engineer can jump to the Program Manager dashboard before a gate review.
Metric counts reflect all work items in the project, not filtered to the current user by default. The Design Engineer dashboard applies current-user filtering to assignment-based views, but other dashboards aggregate all records. Confirm filtering behavior in your specific project configuration.

Step 5 — Cross-Reference with Reports

From any role dashboard, use the Reports section in Quick Links to drill deeper:
  • Risk Control Effectiveness — pre/post RPN comparison for safety engineers
  • V&V Summary — test execution completeness for V&V engineers
  • System Decomposition — hierarchy with artifact counts for program managers
  • FMEA Coverage Gaps — characteristics without failure mode analysis for design engineers
  • Compliance Matrix — DO-178C/DO-254 objective status per DAL for configuration managers
Dashboard refresh behavior, role-to-dashboard assignment rules, and any per-user filtering options vary by project configuration. Open each role dashboard in the live application to confirm which metrics update automatically versus requiring a manual page reload.

Reference: Aero1 Project Scope

For the Flight Control Computer reference project, the dashboards cover:
  • 12 system elements (1 system · 3 subsystems · 8 components)
  • 71 requirements across 3 levels
  • 260 failure modes · 18 failure conditions · 214 risk controls
  • 33 test cases · 40 documents · 7 aerospace standards tracked
These counts appear in the metrics bars as baseline reference values.

Verification

You should now see your role-specific dashboard with a populated metrics bar, analysis section links that open the correct risksheets or PowerSheets, and a Quick Links sidebar with all five categories visible.
