Purpose of Custom Fields

TestAuto2 uses custom fields to:
  • Classify and rate risks — HARA severity/exposure/controllability, FMEA occurrence/detection, risk probability/severity
  • Track mitigation and controls — Link failure modes to risk controls, record post-mitigation ratings, monitor control effectiveness
  • Specify design intent — Target values, tolerances, special characteristics (SC/CC), ASIL allocation
  • Enable automated calculations — Formula-driven action priority, risk matrices, compliance scoring
  • Enforce compliance rules — Mandatory fields for ISO 26262/14971 approval gates, validation rules tied to workflow states

Integration with Risksheet and PowerSheet

Custom fields are displayed, edited, and calculated within risksheet and powersheet configurations:
  • Risksheet columns map to custom fields with formatters, validators, and cell-level styling
  • PowerSheet sheets render custom fields as expandable data rows with visual grouping and color-coding by severity/priority
  • Formulas reference custom fields to compute derived metrics (e.g., AP = S × O ÷ D)
Custom fields often control workflow transitions. For example, a work item cannot move to “Approved” until mandatory custom fields (severity rating, mitigation status) are populated and validated.

Field Reference Organization

Each custom field group page lists:
  • Field definitions — Name, type, data constraints, default values
  • Usage context — Which work item types, documents, and roles use these fields
  • Calculation rules — Formulas, dependencies, auto-population logic
  • Validation rules — Required fields, allowed value ranges, conditional constraints
  • Display formatting — Cell styling, color-coding, icon rendering in sheets and dashboards
